The year in numbers
We set out to plant 2,500 trees this year. With help from 640 volunteers and a very wet spring, we planted 3,112, and 94 percent of them are still growing strong.
Where we planted
Most trees went to the three districts with the least shade, where summer pavements reach over 50 degrees. We picked streets together with residents at twelve open meetings.
Limes and hornbeams did best. Cherry trees were the neighbors' favorite, even if they need more care in dry summers.
Where the money went
Every tree costs us about €210 to buy, plant and water for its first three years. Of every euro we raised, 84 cents went straight into trees and care, 11 cents into volunteer training and 5 cents into running the office.

In our autumn survey, 9 out of 10 residents said the new trees made their street feel calmer and cooler.
Next year
Our goal for 2027 is 4,000 trees and a watering team on every planted street. A gift of €210 plants one tree and looks after it until it can look after itself.
